Bergi logged in last night, so of course I went off to die in new and interesting ways. It had been a great day;- DNC to 40, Wing 1 win with an abjuration drop which Mart won and Bahamut v2 dead in about 45s…

We didn’t even see the 15min notice for Wing I. Hell if we’d used our 2hrs on the manti I figure we’d have done the whole run in around 10mins. First time we’ve ever seen an abjuration drop. Mart won it, and he walks away with a crimson or blood mask. Pretty nice for his RDM as he’s already sitting on a dalmy. Shame we didn’t see the mask, but I’m glad we saw a staff.

Bahamut v2 was ridiculous but fun. We have another orb will throw at him soon but I’m going to schedule some more Ouryu as we have some evokers.

Bv2 Drops

After a break, I came back and asked Bergi if he was willing to try duoing Marvin.  Being pretty pimped in the WHM department already,  I haven’t pushed to get the Orison cape but it was on the list. I wanted to work out whether we could low man it rather than take up linkshell resource. I went BLM/NIN and Bergi RDM/NIN. Aside from a couple of magic fruit at 50% he was fairly easy.  I don’t think I could have soloed him but duo he’s straightforward. Bergi could probably solo him, that’s what he does.  He didn’t take very long… 20mins? Much to my surprise… he dropped. That’s our second kill of him ever. THe first we took a shell group, the second – Duo. I did die once but mostly bad timing on my part. I’m still learning really how to do this stuff.

Then we went to kill Bakka for Bergi. I’m glad we went but for a guy who has Maat’s cap he sure is stubborn about playing RDM/NIN.  We took 3 SMN and Bergi on RDM/NIN. I’d suggested 4 SMN.  Carby pull is by far the easiest but then switch to Shiva. She laughs at Freeze… The fight got hairy, but the joy of SMN is that being weak, doesn’t really matter. One aga caught 2 of us but honestly only because we’d gathered to use a mana powder. If you pick up meds from the NPC at the start and use the Martello, you don’t need fresh.  I think it would have been easier with 4 SMN but it worked and we killed him. Got Brach a Glyph Axe for his BST but the chain didn’t drop for Bergi. Still, we learnt lots. Blizzaga IV hurts. Not Blizzaja…

So I think, I’ve capped my Cure Potency… Should the next update bring more to the Surya’s, it means I can redo probably the headpiece I am wearing. Right now it means I can keep my neck slot for MP or for the Cure Cast neck at some point. Crazy…

The only improvement to this set now is really Augur Hands/Marduk Feet. I have the Feet,  one day the hands You cannot believe how happy I am that I added enmity to my Selenian cap…

Huzzah! Whilst the magian trials seem like an enormous bother I’m really glad I kept on top of the cure potency one because last night I finished this!

Surya's Staff

I really need to get my SCH to 80 >.> rather than the 78 it’s sitting at but we’ve been farming NMs in Abyssea. Want to complete my Serpentes set and then finish SCH from 78 to the top.

Bergi has been pushing me to get on with the thunder MAB staff so we completed another trial for that and I’m on my 4th or 5th now. I don’t know how Kai has the patience…

Completed Cure Potency Teiwaz

I finished this yesterday thanks to the help of a few peeps and their patience with pixie farming. Lots of people have helped me along the way to this staff but yesterday Yehipers, KD, Mart and Ure especially helped.  Sunday night I was down to 100 beast mobs to kill with 50+ light damage so I killed 11 more solo on SMN and went to bed. Monday I spent the entire day it felt like, in Uleguerand Range. I was doing chores around the house and then would come back and solo a few more bunnies etc to get closer to the target. I think I hit 28 when Yehipers came up and raised me as I’d not noticed reraise dropping and had been pwned by a Snoll by ironically, trying to recast rr mid fight.

You have no idea how sick I am of bunnies, buffalo and tigers. Still, finally, 150 beast mobs later and I am on my last magian quest for the Cure potency staff… Huge thanks to everyone who came out to help, even if I did do 70+ mobs solo I don’t think I could have stood the rest alone. Especially to Yehipers, who helped me with the last part So many peeps have helped with this weapon so far, it’s awesome It would have been harder without Carby and Summoner, that’s for sure. For the first time ever, I have capped xp on SMN…. About to trade in this one and then off to Meriphateud Mountains [S] for the final stage!

Cure Potency Teiwaz: summary of info about the trials

Here’s a quick run down of what you need and how to get there…

• 790 100 Treants and under any weather
• 791 100 Spiders under Fire, Wind, Thunder or Light weather
• 828 100 of any mob defeated on Lightsday or under light weather
• 829 100 arcana defeated on Lightsday or under light weather
• 834 Need to get the finishing blow on 150 beast mobs with light damage of 50+
• 838 Trade 10 bottled pixies

You need to pick up a ‘Crook’ from the chest next to the Magian moogle in Ru’lude. You then trade that crook to the moogle to select a trial to undertake. You can do any of these trials level synched, which in some cases may help. All mobs you need to kill have to give xp.

834 looks the worst, cos I’m not sure what it means… but I’ll figure it out.

Odds and Ends; PLD, DRG (!), Cure potency and Dark Knights

My PLD hit 42 which is cool. I don’t xp it much because I don’t want to cap down to 22 or 37 and spend my life fighting Qufim or East Ronfaure [S] mobs. I know it’s big and clever for some people, to worry about skills once the job is up there but I hate it. Hopefully 50-70 at least will be better. Be nice to hit 60+ so that Campaign is a reality.
