From Alexander to Shiva via the version Update

OK, real blog post time.  I am likely to reference my fellow bloggers out there at times. Dibble articulated  what anyone who has ever had to live in or do the missions for, Windurst is feeling right now about where the Abyssea NPCs are.

Heaven’s Tower? Seriously?  I’m a Bastokan at heart but have rank 10 in Windy and 6 in Sandy. One day I’ll finish the Sandorian rank missions but I got so sick of losing my Ops that I stopped when a friend who was doing the missions with me, quit the game. Already the Windy mission line involves you running constantly between Port Windurst and the top of freaking Heaven’s Tower. You have no idea how irritating that is, so to put the most used NPCs in the city inside Heaven’s Tower is really SE’s piece de resistance. At least they’ve had the courtesy to acknowledge the outcry and are rethinking.

Evilpaul articulates  how my poor friend Eiden Cyden feels about what they’ve done to PUP quite well. So I’ll leave you with his words on that.

Version Update Announced: May 10th (Server merge go!)

Right, so the the long awaited major version update is finally go for May. It will be on Tues 10th. At this point the server merges will go ahead and Alexander will be merged into Shiva. I’m sure this will get lively. I have a mule on Shiva and I ran her to Jeuno.  They had about 50 more peeps logged in than we did. I’m not sure how large the regional populations are but it looks good for an EU shell.

Well wow. Quite a curve ball you’ve thrown us Square Enix. Alexander is to merge with Shiva. After six years of the same shell we’re to repearl and rename ourselves and we will no longer be from Alexander.

Recent News Part 1: March Update

I  was out of town for a good chunk of the weekend and forgot about Vanafest for a few days. Most unlike me but probably a sign of something.  I broke down on the way home and whilst waiting for roadside recovery, got a text message from one of my friends saying how angry they were about the news.

Having no clue what he was on about, I used the time (standing on the side of the motorway waiting for recovery) to nose around on the web. Faintly surreal, but heh, I wasn’t going anywhere and that’s what web enabled phones are for right?

So all the stuff about March’s update sounded pretty interesting, then I read the real shock news, about the level cap. I started writing a huge post about it all then decided to chop it into two chunks.
